Helping Organizations Thrive

Fundraising Consulting

My fundraising consulting has ranged from work with organizations that are all volunteer to those national in scope.

My fundraising projects usually involve a combination of assessment, training, coaching, and/or planning.  However, I’ve occasionally been tasked with an implementation role, particularly in longer contracts.

Examples:

  • Assessing past fundraising and associated institutional systems, with recommendations for improvement.
  • Creating case statements of use for grant and/or individually focused fundraising.
  • Creating/update fundraising stories for use by clients.
  • Training staff and board of directors for effective major donor fundraising.
  • Creating annual and multi-year development plans.
  • Managing board-led and staff-led fundraising campaigns.
  • Creating fundraising emails and associated campaign and membership materials, including for sustaining/recurring donors.
  • Creating fundraising emails and associated campaign and materials for non-membership grassroots fundraising, including peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
  • Helping craft materials aimed at securing business donations/sponsorships.
  • Helping groups select and transition to a new donor database.

I have also delivered stand-alone fundraising workshops on a variety of fundraising topics at local, state-wide, and national conferences, as well as via webinar.

“Jonathan Poisner has been an incredible resource for the National Wildlife Refuge Association. He has done numerous board workshops helping to invigorate and inspire our board to fundraise. He also reviewed and provided guidance helping the Board’s Development Committee prepare a strategic plan as we went into our new fiscal year. He helped me develop a FY2021 development work plan which has been extremely helpful as I plan and carry out my responsibilities as the Director of Development. His strategy, attention to detail, and excitement for fundraising has been invaluable to our organization, and to me as the Director of Development for a mid-sized national organization.”
